Manny Pacquiao says that he has his "fingers crossed" that a fight with Floyd Mayweather will finally happen in 2015.

For years the public have have wished for a bout between the greats, but the two parties have never been able to agree a deal.

Speaking during a promotional trip to Hong Kong ahead of his WBO welterweight defence against the unbeaten Chris Algieri on 22 November, Pacquiao said: "I'm crossing my fingers - hopefully that fight will happen by next year.

"Right now my mind is already set to focus on my next fight with Chris Algieri. I think the time to talk about that issue is after the fight."

The 35-year-old Pacquiao also added that he has a couple of years left in the sport, despite recent reports claiming that he will soon call it a day because of his political commitments.

"I'm not thinking yet about retirement. I will continue my boxing career, the journey will continue in my boxing career and we'll see what happens," he said.
