Tyson Fury next fight: Albanian cruiserweight Sefer Seferi says he will be former champion’s next opponent

Albanian boxer Sefer Seferi has appeared to reveal that he will be Tyson Fury’s comeback opponent at the Manchester Arena on June 9.

Fury, the former WBA, WBO and IBF world champion, will end an exile of over two-and-a-half years when he takes on an as yet unnamed opponent in his home city.

He signed a new multi-fight promotional deal with Frank Warren earlier this month, and on Tuesday shared an image of his new British Boxing Board of Control license on his social media.

But until today, when Seferi gave an interview with the Swiss publication 20 Minutes, details about his next opponent have been kept a closely guarded secret.

“This would make a dream come true. I never thought I'd have the chance to stand against Fury - my idol,” Seferi told them.

“Fury is a boxing legend of the 21st century. He is tall, has weight and strength, moves to it quite easily, and he has dethroned Wladimir Klitschko. Fury is a bear.”

A little known 39-year-old who usually fights at cruiserweight, Seferi will have to pack on the pounds ahead of the fight, which will undoubtedly be the biggest of his career.

His record of 23-1 with 21 knockouts is impressive at first glance, but he has fought just three men with winning records in his career. His one loss came to Manuel Charr, who defeated him on points in September 2016.

Nevertheless, Seferi has said he is confident he has what it takes to cause an upset. “I'm very disciplined and always ready for a fight,” he added.

“I will not make it easy for Fury. I will try to put pressure on him. Someone has to stand up to him in the build-up.”
