Tyson Fury vs Deontay Wilder result: Brit calls out 'chicken' Anthony Joshua after controversial draw

Wilder kept his WBC title belt after a split decision draw in Los Angeles

Tyson Fury wasted no time in goading "chicken" Anthony Joshua after battling to a hugely controversial draw with Deontay Wilder in Los Angeles.

The Brit put on a masterclass of technical boxing but two fierce knockdowns from the heavy hitting American cost him dearly as the judges were swayed to score it 115-111, 112-114 and 113-113, to allow Wilder to retain his WBC title.

A rematch between the two now looks increasingly likely but Fury, who went the distance after only 14 rounds following over two-and-a-half traumatic years of inactivity, could hardly wait to turn his attention to WBA Super, WBO and IBF champion Joshua.

"Nevermind anybody, me and this man here are the two best heavyweights on the planet. I stepped up after the amount of time I had out of the ring", he said in the ring afterwards.

"There's another certain heavyweight out there..." he continued, before doing an impersonation of a chicken. "Chicken! Chicken!', he screamed. Joshua, where are you? Where are you AJ? AJ?".

The American added: "I totally 100 per cent agree with that. We're the two best in the world and we proved it tonight. When you get two warriors in the ring you get a great fight."

Wilder, who has long been on a collision course with the undefeated Brit but has yet to agree terms despite protracted negotiations, again suggested he's open to a fight that would finally unify the division.

"I would love to go for the other titles. I want to unify the division. The one who unifies the division really brings boxing back," he later added. "The heavyweight division is too small to have this many champions. It makes the division more interesting to have one champion. And all the competitors come up and try to fight this one champion.

"It is no secret I have been trying to fight Joshua. But those guys have other plans so let’s so what happens. So I am happy either or, I’m happy to fight Joshua or rematch Fury. It’s a win win situation. Let’s see what we do next."

Fury's promoter Frank Warren thought his charge was out for the count in the 12th but felt he had done enough to earn the nod from the judges.

"I didn't think he was going to get up. And after he got up, Fury was pushing him back. He's a natural born fighter," Warren said afterwards.

"It's a draw but everybody knows he won it. We all know that and we'll make the rematch.

"How can after a fight like this there not be a rematch? It's a draw and unfinished business. They're both still undefeated. He won that fight tonight, everybody knows it. We'll do our best to get it back on again.
