Britain grateful to Garcia

Russell Garcia celebrated his 200th international appearance yesterday with a goal which gave Great Britain a 1-0 win against Pakistan in the NCM Four Nations Tournament here, writes Brian Tatlock in Amstelveen. Britain, looking for their first win in seven games, started confidently but, after early misses by Nick Thompson and Chris Mayer, began to fade as Pakistan moved forward. Goalkeeper Simon Mason made a string of outstanding saves and with the rock-like Julian Halls having his best game for some time, Britain held firm. Even so, it was with a certain amount of relief that they won a penalty stroke two minutes into the second half and the cool, confident Garcia stepped up to convert.
