Britain experienced mixed fortunes in the first round of the men's singles at the South Korean Open in Seoul yesterday. Darren Hall came through his opening match with an 18-14, 15-6 victory over Denmark's Jim Laugesen. But Peter Knowles bowed out, losing 15-8, 15-6 to Andrei Andropov of Russia.
