Michael Chang's brother and coach, Carl Chang, made a rare appearance in singles competition at the Hong Kong Open yesterday. At the urging of his younger brother and defending champion, he entered and won the qualifying event before going down 6-4, 7-5 to Alexander Volkov of Russia.
