Burns makes mark in Thailand

Britain's Richard Burns set fastest times in four of eight special stages in the Rally of Thailand to finish the opening day in second place - just one second behind the Mitsubishi of Kenneth Eriksson. Burns had led in his Subaru for much of the morning in the final round of the Asia-Pacific Championship, but encountered problems with dust in the afternoon, losing top spot to Eriksson. "At times the dust was so thick it was virtually impossible to see - with conditions like that you've no choice but to slow down," said Burns, who finished third in last month's Network Q RAC Rally.
