Today's race meeting at Plumpton became the 38th full card to be lost during the current jumps season when it was called off at the weekend. Prospects are not bright for tomorrow's scheduled fixture at Nottingham or for Windsor the following day.

Nottingham officials will inspect at 2pm today. The Windsor track will be inspected at noon. Hugo Bevan, Windsor's clerk of the course, said: "The track is waterlogged and we've even got water in the paddock and the car park."

Wednesday's other turf fixture, at Leicester, is also under threat. A course spokesman said: "The track is still waterlogged in places and if there is any more rain it would have to be doubtful."

No problems are expected for Edinburgh's card tomorrow, but officials at Chepstow, where racing is due on Saturday, are already concerned.
