Cardiff supporters have been banned from the Endsleigh League Second Division match with their Welsh rivals, Swansea, at the Vetch Field next Tuesday. Swansea were worried about violence breaking out among fans, and after talks with police successfully applied to the Football League for away supporters to be barred. The League have taken the unusual step of granting exemption of rule 25b, which says "each club must make provision for a reasonable number of visiting supporters".

The Manchester United teenager, David Beckham, has joined Third Division Preston on a month's loan. The 19-year-old midfielder scored in United's European Cup tie against Galatasaray at Old Trafford earlier this season. He may make his debut at home to Doncaster on Saturday.

Mo Johnston has moved from Hearts to Falkirk on a 16-month contract. Colin Cramb has moved in the opposite direction.

The Nottingham Forest midfielder, Kingsley Black, has gone to promotion hopefuls Sheffield United on a month's loan.
