Leeds limbered up for next Saturday's Challenge Cup final with a comfortable 30-14 victory at Wakefield, and will entertain their arch- rivals Bradford in the Premiership.

Castleford leap-frogged over St Helens to take third place in the championship with a 40-26 victory at Bradford to ensure that they have a home tie, against Warrington.

Sheffield, who face a daunting trip to Wigan in the play-offs, gave themselves a confidence boost. They ran in five tries and saw David Mycoe kick five goals in an excellent 32-24 home win over fifth-placed Halifax, who must travel to St Helens.

Steve Blakeley scored a try and five goals as Salford, battling for a place in the Super League, defeated Widnes, already in the new top flight, by 35-18 at The Willows.
