The British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion, Scott Welch, has been given a chance to win the European title. Welch will fight the European Union champion Zeljko Mavrovic, an English-trained Croatian who is based in Germany, in Newcastle on 8 June

PJ Gallagher will make the first defence of his British super-featherweight championship against Charles Shepherd. Gallagher, who won the vacant super-featherweight title when he beat Davey McHale, of Glasgow, at Crystal Palace last month, must fight Shepherd by 31 September.
