Ray Cochrane was last night described as "stable" in hospital after an horrific fall at Yarmouth yesterday. The 39-year-old jockey is being detained in the James Paget Hospital.

While Cochrane is being treated for concussion and neck injuries, a stewards' report is being prepared for the Jockey Club concerning a delay in an ambulance attending the incident.

The pile up happened when Tirols Tyrant, ridden by Michael Roberts, broke a leg which caused Cochrane's mount Chilly Lad to stumble, throwing the rider to the ground. Roberts escaped with a bruised right arm. Matt Henry, whose mount La Thuile was also brought down was uninjured.
