Yorkshire have released four players: Peter Hartley, the 37-year- old seamer who recently underwent a hernia operation, Richard Kettleborough, Gareth Batty, the England Under-19 captain, and batsman Ryan Robinson.

Somerset are releasing Steve Herzberg after just one season at Taunton. The pace bowler Matt Dimond, opening batsman Haydn Morgan, from Torquay, and all-rounder Sam Trego, from Weston-super-Mare, will also not have their contracts renewed.

An unbeaten 83 by opener Blair Pocock steered New Zealand to a seven- wicket win over Kenya in their one-day match yesterday. They made 209 for 3 in reply to Kenya's 206 for 7, winning with 11 overs to spare.
