Boland, the South African provincial side, Boland last night announced they have signed the Leicestershire fast bowler David Millns on a one- year contract. Millns, who toured Australia with England A in 1992-93, replaces former England all-rounder Phillip DeFreitas as Boland's overseas professional.

Devon and Norfolk will meet in this year's Minor Counties Championship play-off at Exmouth on 8-9 September. The top 11 Minor Counties who qualified for the 1997 NatWest Trophy are Devon, Herefordshire, Norfolk, Shropshire, Cambridgeshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Staffordshire, Cumberland, Bedfordshire and Lincolnshire.
