Cricket: Cullinan finds century form
DARYLL CULLINAN resurrected his faltering Test career with a sparkling century for South Africa on the first day of the first Test against Sri Lanka in Cape Town yesterday.
Cullinan, who had not reached 50 in his previous eight Test matches, hit 113 off 160 balls as South Africa closed on 298 for 6 on a good batting pitch. He was involved in successive partnerships of 95 with Gary Kirsten and 96 with his captain, Hansie Cronje.
Pramodya Wickramasinghe was Sri Lanka's most successful bowler, taking 2 for 50 in 19 overs. South Africa included Makhaya Ntini, the 20-year- old fast bowler from Border, in their team. He is the first black African to play in a Test for South Africa.
