Cricket: Jones reported for dissent

ANDREW JONES, the New Zealand batsman, was reprimanded by the International Cricket Council match referee after being found guilty of dissent on the fourth day of the first Test against Australia in Perth yesterday.

Jones, was reported by the umpires after an appeal for a close catch against the Australian vice-captain, Mark Taylor, was rejected.

Taylor finished the day on 94 after a 198-run partnership with Michael Slater (99), a record for an Australian opening pair against New Zealand. Australia's lead is 197 runs.
