WARWICKSHIRE regained outright leadership of the AXA Equity and Law League only after rising from the deep uncertainty of 45 for 4 to victory with nine balls to spare.

With the Benson and Hedges Cup safely tucked away and the NatWest Trophy still in their possession from last September, Warwickshire need ample supplies of Brasso. Inspiration is something also readily available. They have lost only one of their past 18 limited-overs matches under the stewardship of Dermot Reeve, the man for all crises.

Reeve, batting briefly with a runner after being struck by a yorker from Ottis Gibson, hit the only half-century, completing the task so admirably begun by Paul Smith, the Gold Award winner at Lord's last Saturday. Roger Twose shared the decisive partnership of 56 in 10 overs for the sixth wicket.

Smith returned 5 for 38, having taken the wickets of David Hemp, Gibson and Robert Croft in his last over. Glamorgan lost eight wickets for 44 runs in nine overs from the cosy promise of 104 for 1, with 12 overs remaining.
