Plans for a world championship of Test are "very much on the cards", according to the International Cricket Council's president Jagmohan Dalmiya. At the launch of the Under-19 World Cup in Johannesburg, Dalmiya, who wants a world championship every two years alternating between Test and the one-day game, added he hopes the ICC will also agree this summer to hold the youth event every two years. In Kandy, Zimbabwe produced a better batting performance against Sri Lanka in their second innings in the first Test, but they ended the fourth day at 289 for 7, needing a further 40 runs to avert an innings defeat. The off-spinner Muttiah Muralitheran ended the day with 5 for 78, which made him only the second Sri Lankan after Chaminda Vaas to take 10 wickets in a match.
