Afridi fireworks stun India
Another sizzling batting display from the Pakistan all-rounder Shahid Afridi helped the hosts dominant the opening day of the second Test here. Despite three wickets from India's debutant bowler Rudra Pratap Singh, Pakistan reached 379 for 4.
Singh, included at the expense of former captain Sourav Ganguly, took the wickets of Shoaib Malik, Younis Khan and Mohammad Yousuf but received little support from his team-mates.
Singh removed Malik for 19, Younis for 83 and Yousuf for 65 but that was the final wicket of the day as Inzamam-ul-Haq and Afridi took control.
Afridi, returning to the ground where he picked up a ban for deliberately scuffing up the pitch in the Test series against England, was caught behind off a Singh no-ball but finished the day unbeaten on 85 off just 84 balls, with Inzamam 79 not out.
