England international Alex Hales has signed a new three-year contract with Nottinghamshire after being given the go-ahead to play in the Indian Premier League.
Hales, who is ranked the world’s No 1 batsman in international Twenty20 cricket, admitted he was considering becoming a freelance T20 player.
Nottinghamshire refused to allow players to take part in the IPL this year, but have relented in Hales’ case provided he secures at least £250,000 worth of contracts.
