Ball of the day
In a searing spell of pace and movement, Stuart Broad produced a beauty to Michael Clarke. The feet were staic but the ball seamed away late to trim off stump.
Review of the day
Chris Rogers, wonderfully pragmatic, has also ridden his luck in this match. But his review of Tony Hill’s decision when adjudged caught behind on 14 was spot on. The ball grazed his thigh pad.
Shot of the day
David Warner shimmied down the pitch to Graeme Swann and hit him for six over extra cover. Fearless stuff. Had it failed, of course, it would have been treated as folly.
Moment of the day
At 7.40pm, Broad returned as the sun came out again. He produced another fast ball on off stump which Peter Siddle drove high to mid-off. England were 3-0 ahead.
