England cricket team meet Theresa May at Downing Street after winning World Cup

Jason Roy and Olly Stone will make their England Test debuts against Ireland, the England and Wales Cricket Board has announced.

ODI specialist Roy will get a chance to stake a claim for a spot at the top of the order for the Ashes while Warwickshire fast bowler Stone also gets his first cap.

Roy starred as England won the World Cup 10 days ago and will likely open the batting alongside Surrey teammate Rory Burns or Joe Denly.

Stone was forced to return from the tour of the Caribbean over the winter with a back injury but gets his chance this time around with James Anderson ruled out with a calf injury.

Somerset's Lewis Gregory alsso misses out from the initial 13-man selection.

Full squad

Joe Root (c), Moeen Ali, Rory Burns, Sam Curran, Jonny Bairstow, Stuart Broad, Joe Denly, Jack Leach, Jason Roy, Olly Stone, Chris Woakes.
