England white-ball captain Eoin Morgan limped off with an injury as Middlesex made it three wins from three in the Vitality Blast with a four-wicket win over Glamorgan.

Morgan went off while fielding and did not come out to bat as Middlesex reached their victory target with an over to spare, Joe Cracknell making 47 and Max Holden contributing 41 from 22 balls.

Left-arm spinner Thilan Walallawita had earlier returned career-best figures of three for 18 and Toby Roland-Jones cleaned up the tail with four for 22 as Glamorgan were bowled out for 168 off the last ball of their innings.

A century partnership between Rishi Patel and Colin Ackermann led Leicestershire to a shock 31-run over Yorkshire at Headingley.

The pair put on 109 for the fifth wicket – Patel making 57 and Ackermann 56 before both falling to Jordan Thompson – as the Foxes fought back from a tricky start to set Yorkshire 189 to win

Dawid Malan’s half-century and a quickfire 29 from recent England Test call-up Harry Brook gave the Vikings hope, but the home side’s run chase stalled as they lost five wickets for 15 runs and Leicestershire secured their first win of the competition.

Tim David hit Lancashire’s joint-second fastest fifty in 20-over cricket and Richard Gleeson took a career-best five for 33 as they beat Worcestershire by 12 runs to secure their first victory in the competition.

David made 60 off 25 balls to help the home side post 183 for the second successive match and that proved too many for the visitors, who finished on 171 for eight despite Colin Munro’s defiant 53.

Holders Kent lost their third game in succession after Tom Alsop hit a scintillating 65 not out from 30 balls in his first T20 innings for Sussex.

Alsop, on loan from Hampshire, hauled the Sharks up to 171 for five at the County Ground and the home side then ran out winners by four runs as the Spitfires reached 167 for seven in reply.

Kent’s margin of defeat was only as small as it was because George Linde smashed 22 runs from the final over, bowled by George Garton, including a last-ball six to end on a remarkable unbeaten 38 from 13 balls.

Chris Benjamin’s violent half-century blazed Birmingham Bears to a five-wicket win over Durham at Edgbaston.

Chasing 159 to win, the Bears were wobbling at 36 for four before Benjamin seized control with 68 not out from 36 balls in a stand of 85 with Adam Hose (29).

Carlos Brathwaite, who took a wicket with his first ball in Durham’s innings, joined Benjamin with 38 needed from 45 balls and hit four boundaries in his 23 not out to ensure the Bears maintained their 100 per cent record.

Overseas signings Marchant de Lange and Rilee Rossouw played key roles as Somerset enjoyed a thumping six-wicket win over Essex Eagles at Taunton.

In a match reduced to 18 overs per side by rain, De Lange included a two-wicket maiden in his figures of four for nine as Essex posted 139 for nine after losing the toss, Matt Critchley top-scoring with 60 off 38 balls.

In reply, Somerset breezed to a revised target of 144 with 3.2 overs to spare, Rossouw blitzing 67 off 29 balls with seven sixes, and receiving strong support from Will Smeed, who smashed 58 from 30 deliveries.
