Essex booked the last place in the Friends Life T20 Finals Day with a 47-run victory over Nottingham-shire in the quarter-final at Trent Bridge.

Essex claimed four wickets in a ruthless 16th over as Notts were dismissed for 140. Batting first, Essex had scored 187, with Ryan ten Doeschate top-scoring with 82. They join Surrey, Northamptonshire and Hampshire at Finals Day on 17 August.
