After four lost Tests and one Twenty20 defeat, India finally claimed a win on their tour of Australia yesterday, an unbeaten half-century from Gautam Gambhir leading them to an eight-wicket victory in the second Twenty20.
Having bowled out Australia for 131 in Melbourne, India's response was anchored by Gambhir with 56 off 60 balls as they chased down their target with two balls to spare.
Australia never really got going, opener Aaron Finch top scoring with 36 off 23 balls in an innings which contained four run-outs.
"A good start is what we always look for," said India's captain MS Dhoni. "It was a very good effort from the bowlers and equally well played by the top four batsmen."
