Australia captain Michael Clarke spent Sunday night in hospital suffering from gastro-enteritis.

Clarke, who returned home early from Australia's disastrous tour of India with a back injury, was discharged early yesterday morning.

The middle-order batsman is expected to take 10 weeks to recover from his back injury, meaning he will miss the Indian Premier League and is doubtful for the Champions Trophy, but he is expected to be fit for this summer's Ashes series in England.

Clarke, who averaged 106.33 in Tests last year, ended a run of 92 successive Test appearances by missing the final game in India.
