Jason Roy completed an impressive century for England in the Cricket World Cup, before clattering into the umpire and knocking him to the ground.

Roy was watching as his shot down to deep square leg was misfielded by Bangladesh and allowed to run through for four when he inadvertently knocked over umpire Joel Wilson, who was backtracking away from his position behind the stumps.

Roy quickly helped Wilson up, who seemed to see the funny side, as did an entertained England team balcony in Cardiff. Ben Stokes and captain Eoin Morgan were among the players and staff seen laughing at their opener’s unfortunate incident.

After dusting himself down, Roy was then able to take a well-deserved moment to soak up the applause of the ground.

Roy’s century had put England in control of their third World Cup match after Jonny Bairstow had earlier fallen for 51.
