Law's runs see Lancashire home again
Lancashire and Glamorgan maintained their 100 per cent records at the top of the totesport League yesterday.
Lancashire ended Hampshire's unbeaten record at Old Trafford, while Glamorgan saw off Essex at Sophia Gardens.
Hampshire made 189 for 9 from their 45 overs against Lancashire. The Australian Michael Clarke cracked 54 runs and Nic Pothas continued his recent run of form with 45, but there was little resistance from the lower order. Sajid Mahmood took 3 for 39.
A third-wicket stand of 98 between Stuart Law (83) and Mike Chilton (58 not out) swung the game Lancashire's way and they won by seven wickets with almost 14 overs to spare.
Andrew Davies took 3 for 35 and Alex Wharf 3 for 24 as Glamorgan restricted Essex to 162 for 9. The home side then sank to 15 for 2 in reply, but Wharf, with 41, and Mike Powell with 21 steadied the ship before Matthew Maynard (45 not out) and David Hemp (31 not out) finished off a six-wicket win.
