Lions tamed by Pakistan's fast bowlers
England Lions have lost their one-day series against Pakistan A 2-1 after a 70-run defeat in yesterday's final game in Dubai.
The tourists' bowlers, led by Chris Woakes' (below) with 4 for 38, restricted Pakistan to 213 all out despite half-centuries from Asad Shafiq and Yasir Shah. But the Lions were dismissed for just 143, Raza Hasan taking three for 13 and Abdur Rehman adding three for 24.
The hosts won the toss but slipped to four for two as Steven Finn (two for 44) and Woakes each struck in their first over. They slipped further to 33 for 4 but Shafiq (52) and Naved Yasin (46) put on 77 and Hammad Azam (22) and keeper Naeem Anjum (24) helped Shah (51) add late runs.
Andrew Gale and Michael Lumb got England off to a solid start despite the early loss of Peter Trego, but the collapse started once Gale departed for 17 and Lumb followed for 30. Raza removed Adil Rashid and David Wainwright and Rehman wrapped up the innings with the wicket of Finn.
