Round-Up: Hick's landmark century puts Worcestershire in complete control

Worcestershire's Graeme Hick struck his 100th first-class century for the county as Northamptonshire fell apart on day two at New Road.

The 40-year-old reached the landmark with a leg glance to fine leg in the morning session of the Liverpool Victoria County Championship match. Hick was dismissed for 139 and the Pears declared on 543 for 9, with Zaheer Khan's five-wicket haul reducing the hosts to 67 for 8 at tea.

Mark Ramprakash became the first player to pass 1,000 first-class runs for the season as Surrey took control against Glamorgan on the third day of the match at Swansea. In the process the former England player achieved his fourth century of the summer - his 30th for Surrey since joining from Middlesex in 2001.

And though Glamorgan enjoyed a first-innings lead of 62, that was soon wiped out as Ramprakash manoeuvred Surrey into a good position to set up their fourth consecutive Championship win. Surrey ended the day on 261 for 3 in their second innings, a lead of 199, with Ramprakash unbeaten on 110 and Ali Brown on 40.

The England captain, Michael Vaughan, hit a snag in his comeback when he was unable to return to the field for Yorkshire after lunch in the match against Sussex due to a hamstring twinge.
