Scotland chase Dravid
Scotland have signed the South African all-rounder Jon Kent for their debut season in the National League and are also chasing the Indian Test batsman Rahul Dravid.
The newcomers, who will be known as the Scottish Saltires, can also recruit another overseas player before the season starts on Sunday 4 May. They are close to sealing a deal with Dravid, after Indian businessmen in Scotland agreed to fund half of the £30,000 needed.
Kent, who played three times for Scotland last year, appeared in a one-day win over Nottinghamshire. The 23-year-old, who played for South Africa in two one-day internationals against Australia last year, batted at No 3 at Trent Bridge last May, making nine as the Scots scraped home by two wickets chasing Nottinghamshire's total of 126. He also took 1 for 31 from 8.2 overs of fast-medium bowling.
