Women's cricket: Taylor ensures unbeaten side avoid West Indies in last four

England's women completed a clean sweep of the group stage with a seven-wicket win over Australia to set up a World Twenty20 semi-final with New Zealand on Friday.

Like yesterday's opponents, Charlotte Edwards's side had already qualified for the last four but the win ensured they topped Group A and thereby avoided meeting West Indies. England were given their toughest challenge of the competition, with a target of 145, but chased the runs down with 11 balls to spare.

Sarah Taylor, right, made the highest individual score of the tournament, 65 not out off 53 deliveries. She shared an unbeaten stand of 63 at more than 11 runs per over with Danni Wyatt, who finished with 33 from 17 deliveries. Jodie Fields, the Australia captain, was encouraged by her team's batting performance but disappointed at not finishing the game well.

"It felt like we were in the match right up until the last couple of overs," she said. "Our batting innings went the way we wanted, we aimed for 140 and we got that target."
