Yvonne McGregor, of Bradford, covered 47.411km on the indoor track at Manchester's National Cycling Centre on Saturday, adding 299m to the two-month-old world hour record of France's Catherine Marsal.

Scotland's Graeme Obree, the former world pursuit champion and hour record holder, set the fourth-fastest ever winning time in the Isle of Man mountain time-trial at the Manx international week. Over an unpaced lap of the island's 37.75-mile TT course, Obree achieved 1hr 28min 19sec, beating his nearest rival in a field of 130 by more than three minutes.
