The world pursuit champion Chris Boardman, aiming for his fifth time trial win in successive weeks, will be partnered by Paul Manning, the British under-23 road race champion, in the Duo Normand two-man event in France on Sunday.

The Tour of Spain leader, Alex Zulle, and his ONCE team-mates have been hit by a stomach upset that threatens to leave the event wide open with just four days left. Despite their problems, Zulle and his second-placed team-mate, Laurent Jalabert, held on to their positions in the overall classification in yesterday's 18th stage, which was won by Russia's Dimitri Konyshev. Zulle leads Jalabert by a provisional 1min 10sec, with third- placed Laurent Dufaux over four minutes further back.
