The Swiss rider Bruno Risi won the world title in the men's individual points race in the closing day of the World Track Championships in Palermo, Sicily, last night. Risi, 25, from Erstfield, captured the first gold medal for Switzerland at the 1994 Championships and his second world title in three years, piling up 35 points in the 100-lap event. He won six sprints out of 20 on his way to victory at the Palermo Velodrome. Denmark's Jan Bo Petersen took second place, with 18 points, ahead of Franz Stocker from Austria, who took the bronze medal with 14 points.
