Britain’s Laura Trott won her second gold medal at the European Track Championships in the Netherlands on Sunday.
The 21-year-old, who also took gold in the 4km team pursuit event, claimed gold in the omnium. She finished the six-event competition on 15 points, level with Kirsten Wild of the Netherlands, but Trott won the title on countback.
Having required stitches for a leg wound on the opening day of competition, Olympic gold medallist Trott had a lower overall time from the flying lap, individual pursuit and 500m time trial.
Meanwhile, her boyfriend Jason Kenny had to settle for a silver medal in the men’s keirin, with Germany’s Maximilian Levy taking gold. Rebecca James claimed seventh place in the women’s event behind winner Elis Ligtlee of the Netherlands.
