PHIL TAYLOR, the reigning champion from Stoke-on-Trent, was beaten 3-1 by the Cambridge left-hander Kevin Spiolek in the second round of the Embassy World Professional Championship at Frimley Green last night. Taylor, a hot favourite after the world No 1 Dennis Priestley was knocked out, lost six out of the first seven legs as Spiolek, playing in his first championship, went two sets up.
Taylor rallied to take the third set 3-2 but missed three set darts in the fourth before Spiolek clinched victory.
