Richard Dunwoody yesterday revealed he will ride the odds-on favourite Alderbrook for trainer Kim Bailey in next Tuesday's Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham.

Fortune And Fame, Dunwoody's original mount, is to be withdrawn by his trainer Dermot Weld. Bimsey is also out of the race, while the participation of Collier Bay is in doubt.

Dunwoody said: "Fortune and Fame did a good piece of work, but Mr Weld was not happy with him. I am very happy getting the ride on Alderbrook. It is a great opportunity."

Reg Akehurst, Bimey's trainer, commented: "The horse is 100 per cent sound, but there has been a change of plan. I doubt whether he will run over hurdles again this season."

Jim Old, Collier Bay's trainer, said the horse will not run unless the going - currently "good" at Cheltenham - is soft.
