IT'S as tight as a public sector pay award at the top of the Endsleigh First Division at present and to prove it Tranmere Rovers failed to get the rise they wanted at Barnsley yesterday.
With leaders Bolton given the day off for this afternoon's Coca-Cola Cup semi-final and Middlesbrough's match at Oldham postponed, a win at Oakwell would have put Rovers top.
But the Yorkshire side led twice, Rovers had their defender Shaun Garnett sent off in the first half and needed an Ian Muir equaliser from a quickly taken free-kick to salvage a point.
After last week's 5-1 thrashing at Bolton and their nerve-tingling FA Cup penalty shoot-out win over Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves ended the week by beating Bristol City 2-0 to go level on points with Rovers. Robbie Dennison scored his fifth goal in 10 games and David Kelly's was his 15th of the season.
