England ensured that their sixmatch series against China would be a success when they scored a last gasp 3-2 victory at St Austell, writes James Leigh.

The win put the home country 3-1 ahead with two matches to play, ensuring them against defeat in the series. The side was packed with young and inexperienced players, offering hopes of England's brightest future for many years.

Neil Cotterill and John Quinn completed the winning lead, overcoming a first game crisis before sealing victory in the second game. Their 18- 14, 15-2 success over Zhu Feng and Ji Xinpeng was their second victory in two matches in the series. Quinn also won the mixed doubles with Sarah Hardaker, who was very impressive.
