Chris Eubank confronts a crossroads in his controversial career at the King's Hall, Belfast tonight. Cast in the unfamiliar role of ex-champion, Eubank, who weighed in at 12st 3lb 4oz yesterday, can take the route to restored respect and new riches with a convincing comeback win over the Argentinian Bruno Godoy who scaled 12st 0lb 14oz.
It would confirm a return fight with Steve Collins, the man who took away his World Boxing Organisation super-middleweight title - and his unbeaten record.
Or Eubank can choose to tread the tightrope again and run the risk of another heavy fall which this time could prove fatal to his career.
The South American champion Godoy, a father of nine, has lost 10 and drawn five of his 44 contests and looks tailor-made for Eubank. Eubank has promised to be a "more ruthless and less chivalrous fighter."
He said: "The defeat has been good for me. It opened up my mind to a multitude of things. A lot of the good habits had started to drop. I broke basic rules. Now I have clarity again."
