Colwyn Bay and Newport, who have grounds in Wales but have played in English leagues, may continue to do so for another two years. However, they will then have to join the League of Wales or all Welsh clubs will be banned from European competitions, Uefa ruled yesterday.

Robin van der Laan, Port Vale's Dutch midfielder, has agreed to join West Bromwich Albion. The deal is subject to a conditional tribunal.

Aston Villa have obtained a work permit for Savo Milosevic, their Serbian striker.

Roberto Carlos, the Brazil midfielder, has joined Internazionale from Palmeiras for pounds 4.5m.
