Martin Butler, the Walsall striker, is to have talks with Ascoli, of Italy's Serie B.

Real Madrid have offered the Brazilian club Sao Paulo 2.9 billion pesetas (pounds 12.12m) for the Brazilian international striker Denilson. Denilson, 19, attracted the attention of European clubs with his outstanding performance in Brazil's recent Copa America triumph.

Iwan Roberts, the Wolves' Welsh international striker, has agreed a pounds 1m transfer to Norwich. Mark Venus, the Wolves defender, is considering a move to Ipswich as part of a deal that would take Steve Sedgley to Molineux, while Wolves' manager Mark McGhee has confirmed his interest in the Celtic pair Peter Grant and Tosh McKinlay.
