John Aldridge, the Tranmere player-manager, has appointed his former Republic of Ireland team-mate and Blackburn youth team manager Kevin Sheedy as reserve team manager. Ray Mathias steps up to become assistant manager while long-serving Steve Mungall has been promoted to player-coach.

The last round of matches this weekend in Italy will determine whether Perugia or Salernitana take the last promotion place to Serie A. Bari, Padova, Cremonese and Torino were relegated while Bologna, Reggiana and Verona have already been promoted.
