Football: Oliveira is re-routed to Bradford

Kenny Dalglish's first transfer target, Raoul Oliveira, flew into England last night - to join Bradford City. The Portuguese international centre- back from Farense was due to join Newcastle two months ago on a free transfer but had to go home when red tape held up the deal. Raoul will make his debut in the reserves tonight.

Alex Manninger, a 22-year-oldd goalkeeper valued at pounds 500,000 by Casino Vienna, arrives in London today for a two-day trial with Arsenal. "You can never have enough goalkeepers - just look at today," said the Gunners coach, Arsene Wenger, after watcing Lee Harper make his debut at Southampton on Saturday with David Seaman and John Lukic injured, while Vince Bartram was recalled from a loan spell.

"We need a young goalkeeper who is talented - it may not be this one, but we need someone," added Wenger, who is ready to release Bartram for next season.

Wenger was forced into giving former non-League goalkeeper Harper his shock debut after losing Seaman with a knee injury and deputy Lukic with a swollen toe.

Jeremy Goss is ready to move from Hearts reserves to Chelsea today - with the chance of an FA Cup final place. The former Norwich City midfield player has had talks with the London club about joining them as emergency cover.

Goss, who is available for FA Cup duty as he has not played in the competition this season, has seen little action since moving north last summer.
