DAVID PLATT may not be able to captain England against Germany in Berlin on 20 April as he is likely to be wanted by his club, Sampdoria, for the Italian Cup final on the same day.
Terry Venables can insist on having Platt available for up to seven internationals in a calendar year, but many more matches are planned for the next 12 months and he may decide it is not worth putting undue pressure on a club known to be very helpful to overseas managers.
