Football: Rangers & Liverpool to play four-team six-a-side tournament in the Netherlands

Rangers and Liverpool will go to the Netherlands on 26 and 27 January for a four-team six-a-side tournament involving Ajax and Milan. The two day competition will take place in the Amsterdam Arena and is a 50,000 sell-out.

The Crystal Palace goalkeeper Chris Day has signed a new three-year contract with the First Division club.

The Polish defender Pawel Wojtala, who plays for Lech Poznan, is to spend two weeks training with Rangers.

TRANSFER: Steve Howe (forward) Nottingham Forest to Ipswich (loan).

AUTO WINDSCREENS SHIELD Area quarter-final draw: Northern Section: York or Preston v Carlisle or Hull; Bury or Mansfield v Burnley or Stockport; Wrexham or Crewe v Blackpool or Lincoln; Shrewsbury or Wigan v Scunthorpe or Notts County. Southern Section: Plymouth or Brighton v Northampton or Luton; Brentford v Colchester; Watford v Swansea or Bristol City; Cardiff or Exeter v Peterborough or Walsall. Ties to be played week commencing 27 January.
