Ince is in a 16-man squad and could return to United's midfield, although he will have a test on his hip injury. There is a doubt over the Ukrainian winger Kanchelskis, who has damaged his ankle. The defenders Martin and Carey may also be added to the travelling party.
Southampton are expected to give a debut in defence to Monkou, their pounds 850,000 purchase from Chelsea, but another acquisition, Groves, bought for pounds 750,000 from Arsenal, was signed three hours too late on Friday to be eligible. Le Tissier will also be missing from the Saints' attack because of an ankle injury.
