‘We are s***’: Andre Villas-Boas’ damning verdict on his Marseille side after Porto loss

The French side were beaten 3-0 by the Portuguese giants to remain without a point after three games

Andre Villas-Boas admits his Marseille side are “s***” after a third consecutive Champions League defeat.

The French side went down 3-0 to Marseille, adding to losses against Olympiacos and Manchester City.

After Moussa Marega’s opener, Dimitri Payet missed an opportunity to bring OM level from the penalty spot.

Porto capitalised on their reprieve and secured victory with goals from Sergio Oliveira and Luis Diaz. 

It left the Portuguese tactician, who made his name previously with the Dragoes, before spells with Chelsea and Tottenham, deflated and blunt about his side’s quality.

“To be s*** in the Champions League you need to at least be in it,” said Villas-Boas.

“We are in it and we are doing s***.”

Villas-Boas is now overseeing Marseille’s worst ever run in Europe, with 12 consecutive defeats, equalling the run set by Anderlecht between 2003 and 2005.

Marseille’s terrible run goes back to 2011, with Villas-Boas now desperate to snap the streak in the return game against Porto at the Stade Velodrome.

Goalkeeper Steve Mandanda admits he is “worried” by the recent trend. 

“For sure when you see the results you can only be worried," Mandanda told RMC Sport 1. "We are going to measure the words a bit this evening, because there is a lot of anger and disappointment.

"[There are] lots of negative feelings that stand out. We will have to question ourselves because we are not up to par. There are three matches left, we will have to show another face."

While Valentin Rongier added: "No. Frankly, that's not what worries us. What worries us are the results at the moment, especially in the Champions League. It is completely insufficient.

"It's very difficult, we completely understand [supporters'] frustration and their annoyance. We are the first to be reached. It p*sses us off to come here and concede three goals, not score and not take three points."
