They could have drawn Barcelona, Real Madrid or Bayern Munich, but instead it is Monaco that Arsenal will face in the Champions League round of 16 after the draw was made today.
Drawing the French side, who, like the Gunners are currently sixth in their domestic league, has created much buzz from Gunners supporters on the internet, expressing their relief at missing out on one of the danger sides.
It is also a reunion for Arsene Wenger. The Frenchman was Monaco manager between 1987 and 1994, winning the league with the side in 1988.

Seeded group winners will be away in the round of 16 first legs on 17/18 and 24/25 February and at home in the return matches on 10/11 and 17/18 March, meaning Chelsea will be on their travels to Paris in February before Arsenal and Manchester City head to France and Spain respectively in March.
